London, 3rd September

Global Ecology and Environmental Group (Ecology Group) has announced today the acquisition of Focus Environmental Consultants. Based in Worcester, Worcestershire, the business has a 16-year track record in delivering sure-fire solutions to clients including Barratt Homes, City of Wolverhampton, Birmingham City, and Solihull Councils, Speller Metcalfe, Forestry England, and Lovell Strategic Land.

Since its inception in 2010 by directors Graham Davison and Fern Fellowes-Day, Focus Environmental Consultants has built a team with specialisms across ecology, arboriculture, and habitat management. With this breadth and depth of knowledge, the business has delivered real impact to clients, with key projects including:

  • Acting as professional ecological advisors for West Midlands Safari Park since early 2023. The Park’s vision is to achieve Biodiversity Net Gain, creating native habitats of high conservation value that are appropriate to the site’s conditions and will benefit native wildlife, whilst simultaneously delivering the needs of the Safari Park as a public attraction.
  • Working with Speller Metcalfe on plans for a new community hospital in Cinderford, Gloucestershire. The scheme came with substantial ecological considerations with species including hazel dormice and reptiles on site, and the site being functionally linked in nearby special areas of conservation for the local bat population.

Since it was founded in the spring of 2025, Ecology Group has grown at a significant pace, with a strategic focus on uniting some of the most respected ecological and environmental consultancies to build a new and distinct leader in an increasingly crowded sector. To date, the Group has welcomed MKA Ecology, Burton Reid Associates, Earth Active, Living Earth, Johns Associates, Wildwood Ecology, Mine Environment Management, Nicholas Pearson Associates, E3P, and Urban Edge Environmental Consulting.  Combined, these businesses bring the Group’s total headcount to nearly 300 specialists. By being part of the Group, every business and employee is part of one connected, collaborative network of leaders across variety of technical fields.

The Group has already established a solid base across ecological services, to which Focus Environmental Consultants brings even more value. Across the Group, specialisms in corporate advisory and environmental consultancy are expanding quickly too, with teams focused on environmental and social due diligence, landscape design and visualisation, nature finance, and geoenvironmental.

Beyond expanding the range of solutions and services it provides, the Group affords each business strategic support, while valuing and preserving their unique expertise, services, and the cultures that make them special. With this model, the Group works with each business to enhance their operations, expand their service capabilities, and extend their positive impact.

Focus Environmental Consultants Director, Fern Fellowes-Day said:

“Joining Ecology Group represents a pivotal milestone for Focus Environmental Consultants.  We have a shared enthusiasm for delivering real value to our clients and the environment, while investing in the skills and specialisms of our incredible team.  We will have access to greater and more exciting opportunities than ever before, while preserving the culture and values that make us a consultant of choice.”

Ecology Group Chief Financial Officer, Chris Heyes said:

“Focus Environmental Consultants are yet another excellent addition to our rapidly growing Group of specialist consultancies. Not only do they expand our ecological offering in the Midlands, but they also strengthen our expertise in arboriculture and habitat management, demonstrating that our Group is fast becoming a provider of end-to-end solutions for key sectors from house builders to local authorities.”

Ecology Group is growing rapidly and intentionally, by welcoming businesses with complementary services, cultures, and expertise. In 2026 alone, the Group has welcomed six specialist consultancies and is actively working to foster relationships with other strategically aligned businesses.
